On the evening of May 6, 2026, the communities of Brookhaven and Bogue Chitto, Mississippi were devastated by tornadoes that tore through homes, neighborhoods, and lives in a matter of minutes.
When we received a call from our longtime competition BBQ friend, Doug Bond, we immediately began making plans to respond. That’s what we are built to do. Within hours, our team was organizing supplies, preparing equipment, and getting food ready for the families and first responders who suddenly found themselves in crisis.
On May 8th, 9th, and 10th, we prepared and served more than 400 meals each day in Brookhaven. The local Moose Lodge and its members opened their doors and stood shoulder-to-shoulder with us, helping package jambalaya and pastalaya for distribution throughout the community. Their generosity and willingness to serve reminded us what real community looks like.
As they so often do, Wayne Sanderson Farms stepped up in a big way, providing enough chicken to help us continue serving meals throughout the mission. We are deeply grateful for their support.
Our organization was created for moments exactly like this — to respond quickly when disaster strikes across our region and bring hope, hot meals, and helping hands to people who need them most. But missions like these come at a cost. Supplies, food, fuel, packaging, and equipment all have to be replenished so we can remain ready for the next call.
Right now, our resources have been heavily depleted. If you would like to help us restock, reload, and continue responding when communities are hurting, we would be incredibly grateful for your support. Simply click the donate button to see the available ways to give.
Most importantly, please continue to pray for our brothers and sisters in Mississippi as they begin the long road to recovery.
Thank you to the Brookhaven Moose Lodge members, our volunteers, donors, and everyone who helped make this response possible. Together, we brought a little hope when it was needed most.
